Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:

The focus of the Wash Plant Maintenance Assistant is to assist the Maintenance Lead with day-to-day maintenance on equipment and/or property of the MBF.  The position primarily maintains the Wash Plant with all servicing of equipment.  Ensuring the operations of the machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and other production machinery.  Incumbents in this position will assist in all aspects of maintenance as requested by Lead.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Assist with removal, repair or replacement of defective parts in a timely fashion
  • Assist with adjustment of function parts by using levels, gauges, straight edges, feel
  • Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications
  • Assist with troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Must maintain a clean and SAFE work environment.
  • Work as a team with coworkers and managerial staff
  • Must be able to adjust time of work in instances where off-hour repairs may be necessary
  • Assist with modification/fabrication of equipment or repair parts
  • Effective communication skills

Education, Prior Work Experience, and Specialized Skills & Knowledge:

  • Background in Production Agriculture a plus
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated, organized and able to work without direct supervision
  • Good work ethic; honest, trustworthy and passionate
  • Able to read Tape Measure, Dial Caliper
  • Knowledge of Conveyors and Belting
  • Diagnosing and repair of equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license required

Physical Environment & Working Conditions:

  • 100% travel in territory (central Wisconsin)
  • Time management responsibility is crucial as weather-dependent operations are critical
  • This job requires you to work in and out of buildings with exposure to heat and cold temperatures
